International Apprenticeship Competition in Ann Arbor Michigan
Aug 27, 2009

The annual week long Competition held in conjunction with the Instructor Training Program was held recently at the Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor and Canada had a representative in each of the trade designations of Steamfitter, Plumber, Welder, Refrigeration Mechanic and Sprinkler Systems Installer. The events included work on theory examinations on computer using Blackboard technology, practical projects in every type of piping material and joining method used in today’s industry, as well as SMAW welding, oxyacetylene cutting, and on to advanced projects in the trades.

Our apprentices represented Canada and the UA by doing everything that was asked of them with excellence and pride in their work. We want to thank them for their work ethic and their commitment to a job well done. We also want to thank their local unions for supporting them along the way.
