Hello:
Thank you for your email regarding the eligibility of work permits issued under the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) under the Alberta Opportunity Stream.
Work permits issued under CUAET are currently not eligible under the Alberta Opportunity Stream. The inclusion of this work permit type under the Alberta Opportunity Stream is currently under review. The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) appreciates your comments and will take them into account as the program considers future program changes. Any changes to eligibility will be posted on the AAIP website at Alberta.ca/alberta-advantage-immigration-program.aspx on the updates page and the eligibility page for the stream.
Individuals on CUAET work permits may be eligible under the Rural Renewal Stream. There are no work permit type limitations for this stream. Details on the Rural Renewal Stream are available at Alberta.ca/aaip-rural-renewal-stream.aspx.
To support Ukrainians arriving in our province, the Government of Alberta is working closely with the federal government, business community, the Ukrainian-Canadian community and settlement organizations to ensure they have access to information and supports that will help them settle and integrate into our communities. For more information on Alberta’s response to the crisis in Ukraine, including resources available to Ukrainians arriving in Alberta, please visit: alberta.ca/Ukraine. We recommend you visit this webpage often as it will be updated when new information is available.
In addition to the CUAET, the federal government has several measures to support Ukrainian nationals. More information on the Government of Canada’s response to the crisis in Ukraine can be found on the federal government website.
Regards,
Alberta Advantage Immigration Program
