Administrative Assistant
The Manitoba Agricultural Museum is looking for an "Administrative Assistant" whose job will be to assist the Collections & Programming Manager with cataloguing, accessioning, storage of artifacts, preparation of artifacts for exhibition, archival research for staff and public, and other collections-related tasks. The employee will also be required to assist with programming and events.
Skills and experience in the following areas will be essential to this position:
• Administrative skills – working with Microsoft Office
• Research skills – computer and archival resources
• Accessioning, deaccessioning, and proper handling of artifacts
• Comfortable interacting with visitors and members.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently on museum projects, showing personal initiative in all work environments.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Experience with cataloguing software
• Lifting and carrying items/supplies related to collections, programming, and events
• Other duties as assigned
To be eligible, youth must:
• be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
• Class 5 driver’s license
• have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment
Hourly wage: $17.00
Dates of employment: May 15, 2023 to September 01, 2023
Regular work week is 40hrs including some weekends.
Flexibility is required from all staff to ensure the museum can open 7 days a week. Full availability is required during the MTRS week, last week in July.
Must hold a class 5 license since the museum is not accessible with public transportation.
