From the NYT's live updates: A preliminary investigation has found that the car did not contain explosives, according to three law enforcement officials with knowledge of the matter. Edit to add (same link): A law enforcement official briefed on the incident said investigators believe the explosion resulted from the impact of the collision. A suitcase was found near the car but did not contain explosives, the official added. Link
