We are forwarding a notice of alleged copyright infringement that Shaw has received from a content owner with respect to alleged online activities linked to your Internet account.
Content owners that hold the rights for movies, TV shows, music, video games and other materials, actively monitor Internet activity to protect their copyright. A content owner has identified your Internet Protocol (IP) address as being involved with an activity that allegedly infringes its copyright. Under Canada's Copyright Act, all telecommunications services providers (TSPs), including Shaw, are required to forward copyright notices from content owners to the customer associated with the IP address at the date/time an infringement is alleged to have occurred, and then to inform the content owner once this has been done. This is known as Canada's "Notice and Notice regime".
Please note that Shaw is unaware of the full details and merit of the infringement claim and will not disclose any information regarding customers' accounts to content owners unless we are legally required to do so by a court or body with jurisdiction to compel the production of personal information.
