This is the inside of the C-17 that took off from Kabul in 2021 August. There are 640 passengers pictured here. It’s designed to carry 150. Even if you know nothing about aeronautics, know that in order to get a plane off the ground pilots have to balance airplane weight ratios, plan for refueling for long hauls, adjusting for weather conditions and more. In this situation, they had a lighter fuel load to accommodate more “cargo” weight. Please take a moment to appreciate again the skill of the USAF pilots and staff that made this happen.
