Please clarify what means 'UNLESS AUTHORIZED' Please also confirm I can attend specific courses that are online-based, do not require physical attendance, do not have work portion and are offered by institutions that are not on the Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs) list in Canada without having a Study permit as per information from IRCC official web resources. The specific institutions include: 1) Canadian XXXXX XXXXX XXXXXX Association, XXXX; 2) Canadian Society of XXXXX XXXXXX - XXXX. Відповідь IRCC:
Good day XXXXX XXXXX,
Thank you for contacting Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Generally, if you want to study in Canada, you need a study permit.
As an exception, you can study in Canada without a study permit if the:
- Length of your course or program of study is six months or less, and
- The course or program of study will be completed within the period for your stay authorized upon entry into Canada.
A few useful tips
- You should apply for a study permit:
- before coming to Canada if you plan on continuing your studies in another program after you complete the short-term course or program, and/or
- if the main reason for your visit or for your request to extend your stay in Canada is to study.
If you would like to get a study permit for studies of six months or less, you need to attend a designated learning institution.
Furthermore, As announced on June 27, 2023, a temporary public policy allowing eligible foreign workers to study without a study permit came into effect on June 27, 2023, and will expire on June 27, 2026.

- A valid work permit that was issued on or before June 7, 2023, or
- A letter authorizing you to work while we process your work permit extension application.
the letter must have been issued on or before June 7, 2023.
How long you can study

How to prove you’re eligible
The learning institution where you plan to study may ask you to prove you’re eligible to study without a study permit.
If they request this proof, you must provide 1 of these documents:

- the work authorization letter we issued when you applied for your work permit extension.
If you applied for a work permit after June 7, 2023, you’re not eligible for these measures.
