Поради для тих ,хто незабаром прибуває до Едмонтону: TIPS FOR FINDING HOSTS! Dear Ukrainians planning to come to Edmonton -- many of you are looking for host families. Here are some tips to increase your chances of success. Start early. There are a lot of people looking for hosts. 3-4 weeks is the bare minimum. Buy tickets and have a definite arrival date at least 3-4 weeks in the future. Hosts are available at particular times. Often they already have a family staying with them who will move out on a certain date. They may have holiday plans or other commitments. They are less likely to commit to a family with an uncertain arrival date. Have a definite arrival week. If you don't have tickets, at least choose the week you plan to arrive. It is nearly impossible to find a host for someone who plans to arrive in "August". Arrive near the start of the month. People here usually start renting at the beginning of the month. That means that this is often when a family currently with a host will move to an apartment. There is a 10x difference between host availability at the "end of August" vs "start of September". But many people say they plan to arrive at "the end of August or start of September." Help us by picking one or the other. Be vaccinated. Not every host has a space that works for quarantine, and many hosts are elderly and do not wish to host unvaccinated people. Be on the list and communicate well.
