Important information about Canada’s travel restrictions due to COVID-19 for Temporary Foreign Workers
Due to the evolving situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government of Canada is adjusting its border measures. Even if you have a valid work permit, you may not be able to travel to Canada at this time.
As of January 15, 2022, most foreign nationals will need to qualify as a fully vaccinated traveller to travel to Canada, and are encouraged to check pre-entry testing and quarantine requirements before travelling.
If you do not qualify as a fully vaccinated traveller, you will need to meet the criteria under one of the new limited exemptions: Find out if you can enter Canada.
Visit IRCC’s foreign workers webpage before you make travel plans, and again before departing for Canada, to avoid being denied boarding or entry in Canada. The page contains important information on:
How travel restrictions affect temporary workers
Health requirements for travellers, which includes pre-arrival, arrival and post-arrival testing
Mandatory guidelines for travel to Canada, including the usage of the ArriveCAN application for checking in and crossing the border (please make sure you are using the latest, updated version of ArriveCan
