We are excited to introduce a new tuition-free training program this year. YMCA BC's Youth Employment Bootcamp program, in partnership with Western Community College (WCC), is offering the Applied Skills Training Program for youth ages 16-30 to gain the skills and knowledge needed to find work in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry.
This program features 8-week of tuition-free training and virtual classes. Offering three pathways to success: Terrific Tourism - An introduction to BC Tourism Industry, Great BC - Introduction to BC Hospitality Industry, and Maintain BC - Introduction to Tourism and Hospitality Property Management. Terrific Tourism- Introduction to BC Tourism Industry (8 weeks) February 6, 2023 to March 31, 2023
This eight-week program is specifically designed to introduce participants to the ever-changing tourism industry and will be provided an overview of Tourism in BC along with skills required to work safely in the industry.
Great BC- Introduction to BC Hospitality Industry (8 weeks) February 20, 2023 to April 14, 2023
Hospitality in BC continues to be a dynamic growth industry taking a significant portion of the $22 billion tourism segment. This eight-week program will provide participants with an overview of the accommodations sector and learn about Hotel Management and Food and Beverage Management among others.
Maintain BC- Introduction to Tourism and Hospitality Property Management (8 weeks) March 6, 2023 to April 28, 2023
Every tourist facility requires professionals who know how to maintain the facilities to enhance customer experience. This eight-week program will provide participants with an overview of the skills required to work safely within building maintenance and facility management.
Candidates must be between the ages of 16 and 30 (inclusive), a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Confirmed Refugee, currently unemployed (or working fewer than 20 hours/week), and not currently a full-time student or returning to full-time school in the next few months to be eligible for this tuition-free training.
