There is potential for this role to turn into a permanent position. Responsible for performing a variety of routine materials testing duties, you will assist in the delivery of high-quality field and laboratory testing services. Responsibilities Conducting field and lab testing and documentation for quality control and quality assurance purposes (primarily asphalt, concrete, and aggregates/soils), with an emphasis on learning the requirements of the project or job assigned and delivering these services accordingly. Providing accurate, detailed, and timely sampling and submittal of detailed reports (location, time, and results) of all inspection and testing work completed. Providing high quality service to all clients and stakeholders of the project. Liaising with contractor’s and client representatives to provide reliable, value-added service. Adhere to Clifton’s Quality Management System in project delivery. Other related duties, as required. Required Qualifications and Experience Must have valid, unrestricted Canadian Class 5 driver’s license and provide a clean Driver’s Abstract as a condition of employment. Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an Engineering Technology program from a recognized technical institute preferred, but not required. Willing to work overtime, including long hours, night shifts or weekends, for potentially extended periods of time. Ability to work independently on site, outside, and in remote locations for periods of time, tolerating variable weather conditions. Knowledge of CSA and ASTM testing methods and standards, along with meeting all project standards and requirements, with a proven ability to handle non-conformance issues. Continued attention to safety and safe work practices, with a strong workplace safety orientation. Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of products (Word and Excel). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Contribute to a positive work environment, conducting oneself in a professional and ethical manner. Must work well in fast-paced environment and under pressure. Ability to assess and initiate tasks independently and coordinate with other members of the team as necessary. Physical requirements: frequently lifting and/or moving up to 50lbs, standing for extended periods of time, squatting, walking over rough terrain, and other repetitive movement.
