Dear Tiff,
I am writing to voice my strong opposition to the screening of the film *"Russians at War"* at your festival, as it blatantly promotes Russian propaganda. This film, which glorifies those responsible for the invasion and destruction in Ukraine, is deeply offensive to the many people, myself included, who have suffered due to these very actions.
While I am not a Canadian citizen, I, like many Ukrainians now living in Canada, contribute to the country’s economy and pay taxes, supporting the same communities where we now live. Canada has a large Ukrainian population, many of whom have lost their homes, livelihoods, and loved ones as a result of the actions of the individuals depicted in this film.
By choosing to screen *"Russians at War"*, you are not only endorsing a deeply distorted narrative of the war in Ukraine but also disrespecting the many people whose lives have been shattered by the violence it portrays. The film misrepresents the truth, glorifies aggressors, and spreads dangerous disinformation that should not be promoted at an event intended to celebrate art and culture.
I urge you to reconsider showing this film and take into account the pain and suffering that such content can cause to the Ukrainian community and others who stand for truth and justice. By screening this film, the festival risks endorsing a false narrative that denies the very real atrocities that have taken place.
Thank you for your attention to this serious matter. I hope you will act with integrity and reconsider the inclusion of this film in your program.
This letter reflects your concerns while emphasizing your contributions and the larger impact of the film. Let me know if you want to make any changes!
