PICS is thrilled to launch a Fully Government Funded  “Trade Starter sampler program” in partnership with BC Skilled Trades, starting on May 13th, 2024. This 20-week program will focus on three essential topics: Construction Electrician, Industrial Electrician, and Powerline Technician. Classes will be in person at Ace community College surrey. Registration Link- freetrainings.ca/ste-trade-starter-program The Trade Starters project is designed with the aim of offering trade sampler or pre-apprenticeship training to equity deserving groups, ensuring maximum exposure to the skilled trades that require certification for fieldwork. To accommodate individual needs and achieve the best program outcomes, we will adopt a hybrid service delivery method, combining cohort-based programming with individual case management. Program Start Date- May 13th, 2024- September 27th, 2024 Admissions Requirements:  • Living in BC  • PR OR Canadian Citizen OR Protected person legally entitled to work in Canada • Unemployed OR precariously employed • Eligible if you are any one of the following demographics of Equity Deserving group- Self-Identified Women/ 2SLGTBQIA+/ Immigrants/ Black Canadians/ Racialized Persons/Youth Adult at risk OR Indigenous people • Not receiving duplicative financial supports from another provincially or federally funded labour market program Certificate Received: • WHMIS • GBA+ • Emergency First Aid Benefits of the program: • Fully funded training from Ace Community College • One-on-one employment counseling and coaching services • Free Bus Passes • PPE will be provided (Safety hat, Safety Glasses, Earplugs, Safety Boots, Safety Vests)  • Job search skills and directed work search  • Support with re-entry into the workforce   • Specific skills training related to the targeted job   • Better understanding of current labor market trends and work environment to land a sustainable job.   PLEASE CONTACT For any other questions feel free to reach out to Shipra Sharma at [email protected] (Ext 615)  or Monika Mehra at [email protected] (Ext 613)
